Welcome to our Online Artifact Catalog!
The Glen Carbon Heritage Museum is proud to share with you some of its precious artifacts. Built in 1914, the Heritage Museum building houses almost the entirety of Glen Carbon's history. Some residents remember this building as the schoolhouse with the fire escape slide that they would sneak into after hours. Others know it as the Village administration offices and police department. Many remember this building as the library with bookshelves lining the hallways. Now the same building is housing the artifacts that share those those memories with residents and visitors.

Tips for Searching
Keyword Search
The Keyword Search button allows you to perform a general search across multiple fields for any catalog records online. Keyword searches use OR as the default connector between words (e.g. a search for Hanley Ranch will return records associated with Hanley OR Ranch). If you want to find records where both keywords are found, type in AND between the two words. To search for a specific phrase, be sure to put the phrase within quotes (e.g. "Rocky Pine Ranch"). You can also use the asterisk (*) as a wildcard (e.g. a search for histor* would come up with records containing history, histories, historical, etc.). Searches are not case sensitive.
Browse
The Browse button is a great way to check out the collection. The Browse page displays a random assortment of images from the records online. If something raises your interest, click the thumbnail to view a larger version of the image.
Photos
The Photos button shares some of our extensive photo collection with you. Here you can search for specific people or places. Click the Photos button and type in your keyword(s) or phrase. You can also browse records within this section without searching anything.
